Matt Smalley
Matt Smalley is a Principal and Member of the Investment Committee of Cambridge Capital. He joined the firm in 2018 and directs all aspects of the firm’s investment activities. He led Cambridge Capital’s investments in Bringg, byrd, ReverseLogix, Boa Logistics, Everest Transportation Systems, STAT Recovery, Parcel Perform, Liftit and Greenscreens.ai, and works closely with the entire Cambridge portfolio.
Over the last 14+ years, Matt has invested over $1.2 billion into buyout, growth equity, structured equity and venture capital investments globally across various strategies and structures.
Before Cambridge Capital, Matt was a senior member of the Principal Transactions Group of Macquarie Capital, pursuing, executing and monitoring private equity investments in a variety of industries, using Macquarie’s balance sheet capital. Before Macquarie, Matt spent over 5 years with Insight Partners, pursuing, executing and monitoring buyout and growth investments in technology companies globally.
Matt’s historical exited investments (completed while he was at previous investment firms) include E2open (NYSE:ETWO) (supply chain software), nCino (NasdaqGS:NCNO), New Relic (NYSE:NEWR), Yext (NYSE:YEXT), Laureate Education (NasdaqGS:LAUR), Modern Media Acquisition Corp. (NasdaqGM:SONG), Unitrends (merged with Kaseya) and Blackbird Group (merged with BeyondTrust; acquired by Veritas Capital). Other historical investments (completed while he was at previous investment firms) include Nymbus and Fast Track Asia.
Matt graduated with Honors from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a dual degree in Finance and General Accounting.
