Uber Direct, Bringg Team on Last-Mile Delivery in France

Package delivery service Uber Direct and delivery management platform provider Bringg and have teamed up in France to help retailers provide speedy at-home delivery of their products to local customers.

The collaboration will let Bringg expand its capacity in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the according to a Monday (Sept. 12) press release.

“Bringg and Uber Direct France working together will be a force to reckon with in the delivery and fulfillment industry,” said General Manager of Uber Eats for France, Switzerland and Belgium Bastien Pahus in the release. “Leveraging Bringg’s market-leading innovation and customer-first outlook will strengthen and grow our market presence in the French market and emphasize the importance of last mile delivery.”

A significant percentage of online shoppers list a negative delivery experience as sufficient reason to stop doing business with a retailer, the release stated. Bringg’s services offer retailers quick delivery, real-time tracking of orders, reduced delivery costs and reliable service.

According to the January PYMNTS research report, “Decoding Customer Affinity: The Customer Loyalty to Merchants Survey 2022,” 35% of U.S. customers surveyed said they would leave their online grocery stores or pharmacies if a competitor offered superior digital service.

“Online businesses are waking up to the fact that maximizing efficiencies and lowering delivery costs are critical factors in the customer journey,” Bringg CEO Guy Bloch said in the release.

The Uber Direct-Bringg partnership dates back to January 2021 when the companies announced a deal that would give Bringg’s corporate customers “seamless access” to Uber Direct drivers.

Six months after the announcement, Bringg raised $100 million in a Series E funding round led by Insight Partners, with participation from existing backers Cambridge Capital, GLP, Harlap, Next 47, Pereg Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Viola Growth. The investment raised the firm’s value to $1 billion.
